Where are we? Our home and church are located in Comerio, in the central mountain region of Puerto Rico, about 1 1/2 hours South of San Juan. Puerto Rico Baptist College is in Bayamon on the north coast
What is it like? Puerto Rico is a densely populated, warm, humid, tropical island. The people are poorer than we usually see in the States, but poverty has not proved to be an obstacle to friendship. The standard of living is about half that of the poorest State in the United States. The standard of friendliness, however, makes it a place of richness!
The foods are not what you would expect. There is very little Mexican influence. The banana is used in many surprising ways. It is so common, that at Burger King you can get fried banana slices called "Tostones" instead of French fries with you Whopper!
But the best way is to come see for yourself. We invite you to come and visit our island and see/participate in the work we are doing here! |
